MarginLens / About
Zeeshan Akram
Independent e-commerce profit analyst. Founder of MarginLens.
I find where Shopify and DTC brands leak profit, and I tell their founders what to fix first.
Who does the work
MarginLens is an independent practice, and I am the person behind it. I run the analysis, I interpret what it shows, and I write the recommendations. There is no account manager and no team passing findings along. You talk to me on the first call, I work from your order data, and I walk you through the final report myself.
What I do
I run fixed-scope profit audits for Shopify and DTC brands doing roughly $500K to $20M a year. From an export of your orders, I rank the discounts, products and customers costing you margin, say what each one costs, and say what to fix first. The Profit Audit page covers the four questions it answers and how an engagement runs.
How I work
- I work from read-only exports or view-only access, never admin access to your store.
- An NDA is signed before any data is shared. Customer names and emails can be removed first.
- I check each finding before it goes in the report.
- Every figure is marked as observed in the data or modeled from it, so a what-if is never passed off as savings.
- If an audit would not find anything worth acting on, I say so on the first call, before you pay for anything.
Evidence of the work
Four audits on public or synthetic datasets, not client data. Each has its own page with the methodology, findings and limitations, and the code and queries behind them are public on GitHub.
The work uses PostgreSQL, Python and Power BI or Excel. You never need to touch any of it.
